- The collection consists of the business correspondence and papers of the Sierra Nevada Silver Mining Company. There are also documents related to the court case of the Sierra Nevada Silver Mining Company v. the American Mining Company (1862-1863). The Sierra Nevada Silver Mining Company was legally represented by William Morris Stewart, and there are seven documents in the collection related to him. Other subjects covered include mines and mineral resources in Virginia City, Nevada and the Comstock Lode, Nevada.
