It looks at two main possible supplies of water: the Yuba River and the San Joaquin River. The report includes a table of contents, tables, and black and white photographs.

Report on safety of water supply dams and reservoirs of the city of Los Angeles

This report, which was compiled by the Engineering Department of the Bureau of Water Works & Supply, was presented to the mayor and city council of Los Angeles by A. J. Wiley, F. C. Herrmann, and Charles H. Paul. The report is an investigation into the safety of water reservoirs and dams in Los Angeles. It includes a survey and map of 29 different reservoirs and dams throughout the city. The report also includes an appendix by F. L. Ransome regarding the geological conditions at the Mulholland Dam; the appendix includes a map and photographs.

The report, written by J. W. Reagan, Chief Engineer of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, was presented to the Board of Supervisors of the Los Angeles County Flood Control District, February 7, 1924. The report covers the work previously done to prevent flooding in southern California; precipitation data; past floods in southern California; plans for conservation of water; the Los Angeles water supply; and future plans for flood control. The report chiefly deals with floods caused by the Los Angeles River and the San Gabriel River. Also included with the report is a list of cost estimates for the proposed flood control work and twenty pullout maps.
