The largest group of letters were written by Ellen Terry to Clement Scott, drama critic; the remainder of the items consist of letters and manuscripts written by various people and, for the most part, deal with Terry's life on the stage, her celebrated roles, and her fellow actors and actresses. One letter of interest was written by Terry and discusses her thoughts, motivations, and fears upon acting Lady Macbeth for the first time. The collection also includes three undated photographs of Ellen Terry.

A six-page letter by Ellen Nowlan to Mrs. R. D. Clark of South Fallsburgh, New York. This letter includes substantial commentary by a transplanted New Yorker about life in northern California, including reference to Oakland and to the new state university in Berkeley. In her letter, Nowlan makes extensive reference to the Chinese, whom she considered a social and epidemiological danger.

Two Charmian London typewritten letters, with envelopes. HM 83749 was written to Lieutenant Colonel and Mrs. Samuel T. Noyes (1918 March 17, New York, New York), and discusses the first World War and speculates about Jack London's possible reaction to the war. HM 83750 was written to Mr. M.L. Herman (1928 September 20, Glen Ellen, Sonoma, California), this letter discusses the bibliographic identification of the first printing of Jack London's "Son of the Wolf" (1900); also, Charmian's intense concerns regarding her own library, the possibility of fire, and the safety of Jack London's books housed at the ranch.
