    Maps

    Manuscripts

In addition to flat maps, the Maps series also contain bound materials, most predominantly the Huntington Land and Improvement Company tract books. The locations on the maps mainly pertain to Southern California and Los Angeles County, with a couple charting other states ranging from across the east to west coast. The two international maps relate the layout of Triscornia, a military facility in Cuba, and Sonora, Mexico. The maps importantly reveal the various geographical involvements of companies that Huntington either owned, or did business with: Los Angeles and Pasadena Electric Railroad, Los Angeles City Railway System, California Pacific Railroad, Pacific Electric Railway, Los Angeles Inter-Urban Railway, Southern Pacific Railroad, Central Covington Improvement Co.'s, Canda Manufacturing Company and Canda Realty Company, Southern Pacific Co., Northern Pacific Territory Company, West Railway Co, Newport News Shipbuilding, the Dry Dock co, and among others. In addition to maps, this subseries also contains ephemera from the McGuire Manufacturing Company, images of railroad equipment, as well as rain charts of Southern California.
