    Personal and political correspondence of William Stanton, chiefly letters addressed to him. Correspondents include Benjamin Stanton, Edwin McMasters Stanton, Benjamin Franklin Wade, Edwin Lamson Stanton, Rutherford Hayes, and others. There are also a few pieces of correspondence between Benjamin Stanton and other family members, and a small group of letters of Brian Hellen, a Quaker of Beaufort, (N.C.), discussing a dispute over family inheritance, which included enslaved persons.

    Correspondence and documents from the office of William Blathwayt

    This group of 34 documents consists of correspondence, reports, and accounts primarily accumulated by British civil servant William Blathwayt (1649-1717) between the mid 1670s and 1712 in his capacity as a British government official in such roles as Surveyor and Auditor General of Plantation Revenues and Secretary and member of the Lords of Trade. The materials consist chiefly of miscellaneous drafts or copies of documents related to the British colonies in North America and the West Indies. Items pertain to taxation, revenue, trade and shipping, and defense, primarily in the Bahamas, Jamaica, St. Kitts, and Nevis. Within the collection, there are six letters from Henry Carpenter, the collector of customs in the Leeward Islands, and eleven documents concerning Colonel John Strode, Sir Charles Wheler, and issues related to the four and a half percent tax.

    This collection contains 99 pieces housed in 2 boxes. The collection is arranged chronologically. It covers letters and documents reflecting family and household matters o Francis North, 1st Baron Guilford (mainly personal concerns dealing with the upbringing of his children) and his father Dudley North, 4th Baron North. Correspondents include Lady Anne Montagu North and Beata Pope, Countess of Down. Materials also pertain to the estate affairs of Sir Thomas Pope, 3rd Earl Downe, at Wroxton, Oxfordshire, from 1631 to 1633 as seen in letters from his bailiff Anthony Litchfield.

    Correspondence regarding the identity of Junius

    This small group is made up of three letters pertaining to British writer Junius. The first letter is by Charles Lloyd to George Grenville (both of whom are suspected of being Junius), 1767 January 6; the second letter is by J. Lyttelton to William Roberts (Baron Thomas Lyttelton was also a possible Junius), 1771 November 29; and the third letter is by Edward Twisleton to William Thomas, 1870 October 25, and he writes about Baron Thomas Lyttelton and Junius.
