    A collection of correspondence and poems collected by Arthur Bond Cecil; some of which were collected for the autograph value. The majority of the collection consists of poems and letters by George Sterling, including, among others, "Adullam," "The Hawk's Nest," "Nepenthe," and "The Strange Bird." There is also a notebook of poems by Sadakichi Hartmann; a letter from Issac Hull to Samuel W. Dana; James Ryder Randall poems; a John Singer Sargent letter; a James McNeill Whistler letter; and letters to Mitchell Kennerley, Frances Marion, James Rolph, and Upton Sinclair. There are also a few letters concerning material Cecil has in his collection; many of the letters with envelopes.

The correspondence is with publishers Fortune and Merriman and concerns publication details and issues; many of the letters include envelopes. The collection also includes approximately 30 poems; a typewritten, corrected proof of Beechen Vigil, with corrections by Day Lewis and the editor; printed page proofs and galleys, with corrections, of the volume; a newspaper clipping and other printed material.

    The letter by DeMille to Bern Dibner thanks Dibner for a copy of Dibner's book, Moving the Obelisks, and refers to the raising of the obelisk for the film, the Ten Commandments. The letter is signed by DeMille.

    Henry James collection

    The collection consists of letters from the author Henry James to his advisor and friend, Edward Prioleau Warren. The collection also includes letters from James to Margaret Cecil Morrell Warren and Dorothy Warren; there is also one letter, written in 1920, from James' sister-in-law, Alice Howe Gibbens James.

    Cecil Hanson collection of Southern California maps

    Manuscripts

    Nine maps documenting properties in Los Angeles, Orange, and San Diego counties in the late nineteenth century and first half of the twentieth century. Includes maps of Southern California ranchos, a flood control map, and various survey and tract maps. Maps of Los Angeles area ranchos and Rancho Los Feliz were surveyed by former Los Angeles City Engineer George C. Hansen.
