    Journal that Charles L. Green kept between May 23, 1865 and October 31, 1869, including his service on the Miantonomoh and the Nipsic. The manuscript opens with a brief autobiographical narrative that Green composed "having lost my previous journals a short time since, by the destruction of the vessel to which I was attached." This portion of the manuscript includes a detailed account of the fire that destroyed the steamer Arizona.

    Letterbook of outgoing letters sent by San Francisco merchant Charles A. Thackston from May 15, 1852, to February 13, 1853. Most of the correspondence relates to Thackston's business contacts in New York, and references shipping, power of attorney, and notes on various residents of San Francisco. Some of the correspondence appears to be personal, possibly written to Thackston's brother. In a bound letterbook labeled "Leonora Thackston, Scrap Book, 1870."

    This manuscript is a transcript of a speech given by Peramus Green Ames as part of his application to join the Masonic Lodge, wherein he tells of his religious beliefs. Includes one-page affidavit proclaiming membership in the Lodge for Peramus Green Ames, dated 1850, April 2, and signed by J. Cadman and A.S. Mitchell.
