This collection primarily contains memoirs written by Lionel Allen Sheldon about men he knew, specifically generals and politicians during the Civil War period. Some of these memoirs are part of his larger work, Reminiscence of Men and Events, which appear to be unpublished. There are a few pieces of correspondence and ephemera following the manuscripts. The collection is arranged in the following order: Box 1: Manuscripts (arranged alphabetically) and 2: Manuscripts, Correspondence, and Ephemera (arranged alphabetically).

Biblical psalter, each psalm proceded by a titulus and followed by collects (here "oratio"); the collects generally agree with the Roman series, except for 12 of the Hispanic series and 27 not precisely identified; collect R74 is copied twice, after Pss. 73 and 74; the collect after Ps. 118, 96 is R11811; after Ps. 118, 153 there are 4 collects. See L. Brou, The Psalter Collects. HBS 83 (London 1949). On ff. 167-177v, canticles; on ff. 177v-181v, Gloria, Credo, Pater noster, Te deum, Quicumque vult; on ff. 181v-187, litany including Germanus, Nicholas and Louis among the confessors; Benedict, Maurus, Placidus, Onuphrius and Leonard among the monks and hermits; Scholastica among the virgins; on ff. 187-188v, added, s. XVII, an index in Italian of the psalms for the office of the Virgin arranged according to the hours of the office, and index of the penitential and gradual psalms with reference to page numbers added to the text leaves by the same person.

Records of the British garrison of Gibraltar: "Brass and Iron Ordnance Mounted in the Garrison of Gibraltar 1782," a list of the mortars, "Heights and distances as taken by the Engineers at Gibraltar," and "Bearings and distances of the Stations across the Bay of Gibraltar.' Also included are: "A Cursory Relation of an attack made by the Enemy on the 13th of Sept. 1782 with some Incidental Occurences Preceding it," followed by the "Return of Officers killed wounded & died of their wounds at Gibraltar from the 12th of April 1781 to the 31st of October 1782," and "Shot & killed wounded &c in 1783," and a dispatch of M. D'Arcon "relative to the Proceedings of the 13th of September 1782."
