Letter from Noah C. McFarland to Eppa Hunton and M.L. Woods, written on Department of the Interior, General Land Office letterhead. McFarland writes of an appeal by William McGarrahan regarding an 1883 protest against "the issuance of patents to the New Idria Mg. Company for the San Carlos Nos. 1, 2, and 3 lode claims, San Francisco," which was rejected by the General Land Office. McFarland relates the "grounds of error assigned in the appeal," and concludes that "Mr.McGarrahan clearly has no right of appeal and the case is accordingly dismissed."
