Expediente or case file for Rancho San Pablo originally granted in 1823 by Mexican governor of Alta California, Luís Antonio Argüello to Francisco María Castro, reconfirmed by Governor José Figueroa in 1834 to the heirs of Francisco Castro and claimed by Joaquín Ysidro Castro. The Rancho which was once part of the land belonging to the Mission Dolores, was a land grant in present-day Contra Costa County, California encompassing the cities of Richmond, San Pablo, and Kensington. Includes signed statements by Joaquín Ysidro Castro, Agustín V. Zamorano, Francisco Maria Castro, Jose Figueroa, Francisco del Castillo Negrete, José María de Echeandía, and Santiago Arguello.

This collection of manuscripts concern lands granted to Luis Peralta, a soldier at the Presidio of San Francisco. The lands are decreed by Governor Solá to be returned to Peralta after being taken away, and Luis Argüello is charged with performing the adminsitrative duties. The lands are located north of Mission San José and near San Leandro Creek. Includes a copy in Spanish, and an English copy of Peralta's title.

HM 16573 and HM 16574 (which also contain photograph facsimiles) are addressed to Felipe Barri, and dated November 30, 1771 and June 4, 1772. HM 16575 and HM 16576 are addressed to Felipe de Neve, and dated November 12, 1774 and March 26, 1776. In Spanish.
