She asks for back payment on rent for Fanny's house, where she lived for twenty-five years without payment, or suggests Fanny buy the property outright. She also writes of details of mutual friends in San Francisco.

Signed agreement between Abel Stearns and Alpheus B. Thompson pertaining to sea-otter hunting rights in California. Per the agreement, Stearns agrees to furnish a Mexican license to collect sea-otters along the California coast and islands and provide a vessel under the Mexican flag. The agreement also stipulates percentages of the otter collection to be given to Thompson, Stearns, the Mexican government, and the otter hunters. A facsimile copy is also available.
