Daily journal of Frances Anita Irvine, kept in 1894 while she was living in both San Francisco and on the Irvine Ranch. Frances' entries include notes on the purchase of a new buggy, quail and duck hunting, shipping oranges, growing pumpkins,selling cattle,traveling from San Francisco to Ranch, cleaning the Irvine Ranch house and repairing the tennis courts, and Frances' illnesses. Also includes references to various family members and acquaintances, including Madame Modjeska and her husband Bozenta Chlapowski, actress Adelaide Keim, Capt. Healey (possibly Captain Michael Healy), Judge Richard Eagan, Judge Wilde, Josephine Blair, Sidney Knoper, George Irvine, members of the Plum family, and Christian Krause, among others. The journal also contains a recipe for homemade cough medicine made from laudanum.
