This manuscript is a census of the populations within the jurisdiction of the presidio of Santa Barbara, including the Pueblo of Los Angeles, and the missions at Purísima, Santa Barbara, San Buenaventura, and San Fernando. Included are two copies of a chart breaking down the populations into various categories, one of which is an undated and unattributed typewritten facsimile translated into English. In Spanish.

This disbound album is made up of two volumes, the first containing late 19th century photographs of sites throughout Mexico and parts of South America; most notable are Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Peru, Bolivia, and the Mesoamerican ruins of Mitla, Tiahuanacu, and Gran Chimu. Some of the photographs in volume one are cyanotypes made by C.F. Lummis. Views of some California missions are also included, with a focus on San Fernando Rey. The second volume of the album also holds late 19th century photographs of Anglican church buildings in England, featuring York Minster, Winchester Cathedral, and Ely Cathedral.

The collection consists primarily of letters from Woolf to Saxon Sydney-Turner, a college roommate and friend. Thirty-eight letters date from Woolf's college days at Cambridge, twenty-two are from the period when Woolf served as a civil servant in Sri Lanka, and four letters date from the period after his return to England in 1911. One letter was written from Spain during his honeymoon with Virginia. Although most of the letters do not concern literary matters, there are two poems by Woolf in the collection: "2:30 A.M." and "To Ponamma."
