Description: This collection contains 6 paintings of astronomical art created by scientist and artist William K. Hartmann as well as Chesley Bonestell, Ron Miller, and Vladimir A. Vaiman. Some of the artwork envisions planetary travel and planetary environments prior to the availability of photographic and other scientific data. The painting by Ron Miller, for instance, used photographic/scientific evidence in his painting. These works were inspired by the deserts in the American Southwest, Pacific Rim lava fields, and other landscapes on earth.

This collection consists of material created by and related to The Planetary Society since its beginning in 1980 and up to 2016. It contains Board of Directors correspondence, memorandums, and meeting minutes; material related to public relations, events, fundraising and membership; copies of The Planetary Report (not a complete set); NASA photo files; material related to the Solar Sail and the Mars Rover program; NASA and space exploration in general; Apollo reports; the Hubble Telescope; and US and Russian cooperation in space (including Planetary Society staff's trips to Russia). The collection also contains photographs and negatives; video cassette tapes and film; clippings; T-shirts, posters, badges, stickers, memorabilia; artwork; and miscellaneous material. There is material both about and by: Carl Sagan (including his 265-page curriculum vitae), Bruce Murray, Louis Friedman, Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson and Buzz Aldrin. There is artwork by space artists Ron Miller, Michael W. Carroll and Mark Paternostro among others.

The collection includes some 17th and 18th century items regarding Norton's ancestors in Massachusetts; correspondence by Norton regarding his voyage to California and his time in the gold mines; several items pertaining to Norton's membership in the Society of California Pioneers of New England; a painting and sketch of the ship "Argonaut," both by Clark Oliver; and military records of Charles Walton of the 6th New Hampshire Infantry Regiment and Simon M. Nudd of the 24th Maine Infantry Regiment. Also included is a pocket compass and lock that belonged to William Norton.

Hubble include manuscripts and reprints of his articles, papers, public lectures, addresses, etc., scientific documentation for his papers, logbooks of photographic plates taken by Hubble at Mount Wilson and Palomar Observatories, diaries and biographical memoirs of his wife Grace Burke Hubble, professional, personal, and social correspondence, photographs, medals and awards, a scrapbook assembled by Grace Hubble, newspaper clippings, etc.
