Description: The John Genest scrapbooks consist of two folio volumes, which are extra-illustrated supplements to Genest's multi-volume publication on the history of the English stage. The scrapbooks contain approximately 300 items including portrait and view prints, playbills, autographs, and 70 letters of theatrical persons; many of the later letters are addressed to Edward Smyth Pigott who was the Examiner of Plays from 1875 to 1895.
