- The collection consists of letters, documents, manuscript diaries, a few maps and photographs, and ephemera related to the life and military career of Charles Stewart Farnsworth and dates from 1820-1955. Subject matter includes military affairs and administration, chiefly during World War I, as seen in orders, bulletins, communications, and others; information about Montana, Alaska, and Farnsworth's other posts; the city of Altadena, California from 1927-1951; the Farnsworth family. Although there are various correspondents in the collection, the most prominent is his second wife, Helen Bosard Farnsworth, who is represented in the collection by 297 pieces, including both correspondence and diaries.
