The group of items consists of claims, certificates of redemption, deeds, promises to pay, and letters all related to the Valle family, Rancho Camulos, and other land they owned in Ventura, Los Angeles, and Riverside counties. Valle family members represented in the collection are Reginaldo Francisco Del Valle, Ysabel Del Valle, Ulpiano Del Valle, Ygnacio Del Valle, and Josefa Del Valle de Forster. Also included are two wine labels from the family's winery.

The collection consists of correspondence and literary manuscripts by English authors and friends of both John Forster and his second wife, Eliza Ann Crosbie Colburn Forster. The literary manuscripts include essays, poems, and diary and text extracts both by and about John Forster. The correspondence deals with the personal life and business dealings of Forster. There is also detailed genealogical information in the collection. A collection of 371 items from 1835 to 1938, which contains letters, manuscripts, documents, and maps, in both English and Spanish, related to the life and career of Reginaldo Francisco Del Valle. It includes material on California politics and government, water resources, agriculture in the Owens Valley, the St. Francis Dam disaster, Stephen Mallory White, the Del Valle family (including a copy of the will of Ygnacio del Valle) and the William Mulholland Memorial. There are also land papers for the Camulos Ranch in Ventura County, California.
