Description

Notes and agendas, with manuscript listing of London churches and extent of wartime damage of committees including the London Diocesan Advisory Committee, the Georgian Society for the Preservation of Ancient Buildings, and the War Memorials Advisory Council. Also includes two copies of a speech about the "Town and Country Planning Bill" by E.H. Keeling in the House of Commons, July 11, 1944.

Provenance
Purchased by the Huntington Library in 1962. The collection was initially accessioned into the Huntington Art Reference Library in 1962. Sometime afterwards, the printed books and pamphlets were removed, separately catalogued, and shelved with the main body of the Art Reference Books, and the photographs were removed to the Photo Study Collection. In 2005, the Art Reference Library collection was merged into the main collection of the Huntington Library and the decision was made to re-integrate the printed material and photographs of the Esdaile collection into the papers.

    Includes letters from Harry Batsford of BT Batsford Ltd. (Publishers) of 18 August, 21 September, 2 October, and 1 November 1944, regarding this possibility for a book; memorandum of agreement with publisher (B.T. Batsford) for English Renaissance Monuments and a memorandum of agreement with publisher (B.T. Batsford) for English Church Monuments 1510 to 1840 (described in contract as "English Sculpture or Some Similar Title"), both 1945; and reviews and articles about English Church Monuments. There is no evidence that English Renaissance Monuments was published; probably any material was incorporated into English Church Monuments.
