Provenance
Purchased by the Huntington Library in 1962. The collection was initially accessioned into the Huntington Art Reference Library in 1962. Sometime afterwards, the printed books and pamphlets were removed, separately catalogued, and shelved with the main body of the Art Reference Books, and the photographs were removed to the Photo Study Collection. In 2005, the Art Reference Library collection was merged into the main collection of the Huntington Library and the decision was made to re-integrate the printed material and photographs of the Esdaile collection into the papers.

    Chiefly consists of a typescript draft identified as "The Rejected Chapter from Life of LFR"; four images of Roubiliac's works; a pen-and-ink design for the title page created by Martin Esdaile; and two typescript and one manuscript transcriptions of "A Catalogue of the Genuine and Entire Collection of Models, Moulds, Casts and Busts in Terra Cota, Marble and Bronze of Mr. L.F.     Typescript and manuscript notes on the family history of John Bacon RA and John Bacon the Younger including correspondence to Esdaile from Gertrude Bacon about her ancestors with manuscript transcripts of historical documents (1925 and undated); notes on statuary commissions; a list of Bacon pencil portraits chiefly by Bacon the younger; additional miscellaneous notes; and a late 19th century pedigree of the Bacon family.
