Presentation address to Archduke of Austria

Description: A printed presentation address, with original drawing, to the Archduke Rainer of Austria, dated Vienna, 1898; signed by the members of the Museum of Art and Industry. It is housed in light blue velvet case, with the initial "R" in the center of the cover, surmounted by a crown, all in enamel. Originally from the library of the Empress Elizabeth of Austria.

Manuscript on vellum scroll, in Hebrew (mssHM 40697), 5.5 x 120 inches; "Hamelech mesillah" mounted on a brass crown (Keter Torah). At the end of the scroll written in Russian: "In the name of God. Help. Quickly. Andre." Also enclosed with the scroll: a translation of this Russian note, sent in an envelope from California Institute of Technology, August 19, 1946.

A collection of manuscripts, correspondence, volumes, autographs, photographs, and ephemera collected by Mary W. T. Dickinson. The manuscripts include French military orders (1678) and a document signed by Charles II, King of England (1662). The volumes are both literary and historical, most with some type of illustration. The collection also includes a small amount of personal correspondence and a larger amount of correspondence with dealers and the Henry E. Huntington Library concerning her collection.
