Bollaert's papers consist of seven detailed travel journals or notebooks for his South American expeditions, a report to the Arequipa Mining Company in 1826, a few coastal charts of the southern-most parts of South America, and a few coastal profile sketches of Cape Horn, Flores Island, Bold Point, and the lighthouse at Montevideo. The journals include detailed observations about mines and mineral resources, the trade in nitrate, coal, salt, and other chemicals, people and places encountered, archaeological sites, local history, indigenous cultures, notes on his reading in Spanish literature, and speculations on the possibility of building a railroad from Valparaiso to Buenos Aires.

The collection consists of letters, manuscripts, documents, pamphlets, and newspaper clippings related to William Henry Thrall, the San Gabriel Mountains, hiking and outdoor recreation in Southern California, and the publication of Trails magazine. There is also secondary source material on Los Angeles County water supply, flood control, sewage disposal, and conservation in the mountain areas.

This collection contains the papers of William Hertrich, superintendent of the Huntington Library grounds and buildings, and consists of correspondence and other papers related to the development of the San Marino Ranch and the Huntington Botanical Gardens, the construction of the Huntington residence and of the Huntington Library, and the city of San Marino, California. There are also articles related to botanical gardens and specific plant species. Of note in the collection is correspondence between William Hertrich and Henry Edwards Huntington relative to the ranch and library. Box 24 consists of photographs and negatives related to Hertrich on the Huntington Library gardens and a luncheon in April 1951.

Letters and ephemeral concerning Brownlow's public activities in 1862. Pages include correspondence to Ferdinand J. Dreer, Esq. in 1841 and from Brownlow's publisher George W. Childs in 1862. Topics largely concern the publication and distribution of Brownlow's "book," most likely the Sketches of the rise, progress, and decline of secession; with a narrative of personal adventures among the rebels (1862). Ephemera include invitations, bills, and announcements for Brownlow's lectures and public receptions in New York, Boston, and Philadelphia.

Charles Broughton papers

The collection consists of 21 volumes belonging to artist Charles Broughton from 1888 to 1944. Each volume is a combination of diary, journal, commonplace book, and sketchbook. The sketches are of animals, places, historical figures, outdoor scenes, and common people (perhaps Broughton knew them or came across the individuals and sketched them).

This collection consists chiefly of letters, with some documents and manuscripts (including 29 volumes of notebooks and diaries) related to the lives and family affairs of Raphael and Eliza Pumpelly. The collection includes a few professional papers of Raphael Pumpelly, along with geological notes and descriptions of people and expeditions in Japan, China, Mongolia, Russia, Turkestan, and various places in the United States. Among the papers related to Eliza Shepard Pumpelly, there are descriptions of travel in Europe and Asia and also of the expeditions to Turkestan in 1903 and 1904. The collection also contains a few business and personal letters of Raphael Pumpelly's parents, William Pumpelly and Mary Wells Pumpelly, and their family.
