    Financial documents related to the Bernice Pauahi Bishop Musuem, the B.P. Bishop estate, and Puakea Ranch, all of which employed Joseph Oliver Carter during his career in Hawaii. There are also some early accounting materials from the 1840s, including records of invoices for Charles Brewer and R.W. Wood. Family photographs include a portrait of Carter and several album pages containing photographs of Carter and Babbit family members and homes. The photographs are primarily of children, including Elizabeth Babbit Spelman as a baby, and a few depict Joseph Oliver Carter with children and are labeled Great-Grandfather Carter. A few photographs depict Asian women labeled as maids. There is also a 1931 group photograph of the Honolulu Garden Club, and a copy of the Honolulu Star Bulletin extra edition front page from December 7, 1941, describing the aftermath of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

    The bulk of the correspondence in this group of manuscripts is from Alfred DeGroot to Clifford Drury and the "Members of the Writing Staff" in regards to "The Pageant of Religion in California." There are also some statistical data of religious bodies from the United States, Bureau of the Census.

    Robert G. Carter papers

    Collection includes several typescript volumes created by Robert G. Carter: "Letters from the battlefront" (typescripts of letters, 1860 to 1865), "Wearing of the Cadet Grey, or Memories of West Point Days", and "Four Brothers in Blue" (record of the Army of the Potomac, 1860 to 1865); volumes include some added photographs, clippings, and maps. Also present are two Carter family photo albums, loose clippings, ephemera, and a copy of Robert G. Carter's publication, The Old Sergeant's Story: Winning the West from the Indians and Bad Men in 1870 to 1876.

    The Sayre Macneil papers contain papers relating to: the pioneer Argello family (1875 to 1957), the Argello family estate and claims before the American Mexican Claims Commission involving the Argello Properties in and near Tijuana. Alfred Henry Wilcox and the Colorado River Navigation in the 19th century. There are also a number of early land papers of the Wilcox family from Chatham, Connecticut, place of Alfred H. Wilcox's birth (1736 to 1928). The Sayre Macneil papers (1869 to 1948), includes mainly correspondence relative to academic and legal matters.
