Map of Vermont / by Geo. White
Visual Materials
No old shelf mark. A small map tacked to top and bottom wood strips and linen backed. Rather crude, probably lithographed. Information on George White from the Vermont encyclopedia, John J. Duffy, 2003, and an article about him which appeared in Vermont history, volume 42 number 1, Winter 1974, pages 3 to 11. The article notes that White seems to have stopped producing prints in 1856; this, combined with the presence of Lamoille County, which was first formed in 1835, provide the approximate dates of this map. The dates usually suggested for his matching wall maps of Vermont and New Hampshire are 1850 to 1855. Top and bottom wood rails. Prime meridian: GM Washington, D.C. Relief: hachures. Graphic Scale: Miles. Projection: Cylindrical. Printing Process: Lithography.
