Ralph Arnold Addenda

The addenda focuses on correspondence, school records, and ephemera related to Ralph Arnold's daughter, Winninette Arnold Noyes. There is also a variety of other correspondence by members of the Arnold family, as well as their friends and colleagues; diaries kept by Delos Arnold (1856), Ralph Arnold (1891-1901), and Winninette Stokes Arnold (c.1921-1934); an account book including John N. Noyes (1848-1867); ephemera and photographs from South Pasadena Junior High School (1930s); some professional papers related to Ralph Arnold; photographs of the Rose Parade (1930s); a large Arnold family tree; Arnold family photographs; and some printed texts and maps.

The collection consists of letters, documents, volumes, and maps related to the business affairs of the Santa Anita Ranch from 1901 to 1904, and the Los Angeles Racing Association from 1907 to 1922. Of the approximately 600 pieces in this collection, 400 are receipts of the Los Angeles Racing Association. Additional material in the collection includes correspondence, diaries, and documents related to the personal and business affairs of Anita M. Baldwin. Also included is the estate settlements of Elias Jackson Baldwin and his elder daughter Clara Baldwin Stocker for the period from 1876 to 1936, including two volumes of city dockets on criminal and civil justice for the city of Arcadia, California. The Addenda includes business papers for Baldwin M. Baldwin, the Los Angeles Racing Association, and Anita M. Baldwin. The Addenda also includes a small amount of personal material related to Anita M. Baldwin such as address books, library and household inventories, poems and other compositions, musical scores, photographs, and scrapbooks.

James D. Hague papers addenda

The addenda contains correspondence, business papers, estate material, diaries, account books, scrapbooks, photographs, and other material related to the work and family of James D. Hague. Other Hague family members represented in the addenda include Marian Hague, his son William Hague, and Mary Hallock Foote. Subjects included in the collection: Clarence King, mining, engineering, Guano Island, South Seas (Oceania), Japan, and the Lick Observatory. Also found in the addenda is a small group of papers of Horace F. Cutter of San Francisco, a friend of Clarence King; and a small group of papers of Edward Singleton Holden, who was an astronomer and Hague family friend. Holden was director of the Lick Observatory, president of the University of California, and librarian of West Point. The addenda also contains unprocessed folders and boxes of ephemera and realia including a chemical set, ore specimens, and printed material; photographs in Boxes 57-63 were transferred to the Photo Archive.

Amos Parmalee Catlin addenda

This addenda has 120 items and is mostly correspondence, business records, and legal documents (1849-1867) that pertain to Amos Parmalee Catlin and the American River Water and Mining Company. Subjects covered include California politics and government, gold mines and mining, mines and mineral industries, mining claims, quartz mines and mining, and riparian rights on the American River. Also included in the addenda is correspondence of Charles T.H. Palmer, a business associate of Catlin.
