The majority of the letters are addressed to George C. Wedderburn and W. W. Berry.

Manuscripts
Correspondence, accumulated by the editors of the Religious Herald, particularly by Alfred Elijah Dickinson, with a few letters addressed to Jeremiah B. Jeters. Most ante-bellum and Civil War letters deal with colporteurs. The post-war correspondence relates mostly to accounts of the individual and corporate subscribers and advertisers. There are also few items dealing with the affairs of the Southern Baptist Convention. Included are letters from John Albert Broadus, a manuscript of his "The Revised New Testament: General Remarks" (ca. 1866), a group of articles by Jabez Lamar Monroe Curry, articles and reviews by Jeremiah Bell Jeters, and a few other articles and letters to the editor

Correspondence accumulated by the editors of the Richmond Dispatch. The collection includes articles, reports, literary contributions, book reviews, letters to the editor, and other pieces submitted for publication. Many articles deal with Virginia history, particularly colonial and Civil War era, state and national politics, and foreign affairs. Also included are pieces dealing with the newspaper's finances, subscription, and editorial policies, and a few pieces of personal correspondence of William D. Chesterman, one of the editors.
