Legal, and personal correspondence of Robert Anderson, chiefly related to his involvement in settling the estate of his father-in-law and his brother LeRoy Anderson. Included are some letters dealing with Alexander Macaulay's shipping business at Norfolk, Va., lawsuits against Dismal Swamp Canal Company and documents and plats relating to the property at Navy Hill (Richmond, Va.), including a plat of Navy Hill (Richmond, Va.) with a "Proposed Academy" whose "object is to introduce gradually a thousand or more elementary schools j in every part of the State."

Correspondence of Thomas Hicks Wynne, mostly letters addressed to him relating to his historical interests, particularly his work on Historical documents from the Old Dominion (Richmond, Va., 1860-74. 5 v.). Also included are pieces dealing with the supplying of Confederate troops defending Richmond, Wynne's business career, discussion of state and national politics, current events, family news, and the settlement of Wynne's estate.

Although the majority of the collection deals with Virginia and other Southern states, there are scattered pieces relating to Episcopalian clergy in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Lower Canada. Included are materials related to the Monumental Episcopalian Church (Richmond. Va.), St. James's Episcopal Church (Richmond, Va.), St. John's Church (Hampton, Va.), Virginia Council of the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, the Southern Churchman and other publications and institutions of Episcopal Church, particularly in the diocese of Virginia. There are only a few pieces relating to the Civil War
