The collection is comprised of letters, manuscripts, and photographs pertaining to Clifford Leslie Barrett and his field of interest. The majority of the letters are addressed to Barrett (he is only the author of three) and were written by fellow philosophers and academics. Issues addressed within the collection include the life and work of Clifford Leslie Barrett and 20th century American and British philosophy. Correspondents include Brand Blanchard, Archibald Allan Bowman, Mary Whiton Calkins, John Dewey, Theodore Dreiser, William Ernest Hocking, Reinhold Freidrich Alfred Hoernlé, Arthur Oncken Lovejoy, Ferdinand Canning Scott Schiller, and Radoslav Andrea Tsanoff.

The collection contains photocopies of 49 autobiographical letters written by Clifford Clinton for his children documenting his activities and covering his life to the late 1940s; two sheets of Clifford Clinton stationery; a pamphlet for Clifford Clinton's mayoral campaign of 1945 "We Have a Big Job - Let's Do It"; a copy of the 1937 Los Angeles County Grand Jury Report on graft and corruption in Los Angeles; "Clifford Clinton's Derricks of Faith" (six-page essay on Clifford Clinton's faith and politics); seven radio speeches of Clifford Clinton from 1938; a copy of a chapter regarding speeches from Edmond Clinton's book on Clifford Clinton; one postcard of Clifton's Cafeteria; genealogical information on the Clinton family; a rough draft of the funeral program for Clifford Clinton, including a photocopy of his biography.

Clifford Vaughan Papers

The majority of the collection deals with Vaughan's trip to Asia with Ruth St. Denis, Ted Shawn and the Denishawn Dancers in 1925. Boxes 1 and 2 contain the following kind of material: Clifford Vaughan's music notebooks, photographs, postcards, booklets, maps, programs and ephemera all regarding the trip. Also included is some ephemera about Clifford Vaughan (a biography of Vaughan, written after his death, and order forms for his music on CDs) and the Denishawn Dancers, mostly clippings, several publications owned by Vaughan, probably purchased during the trip, as well as programs for the Denishawn Dancers and a Tribute to Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn by "H. H." Box 1 also contains a folder of modern letters regarding the Denishawn Dancers and their history; these are between Jane Sherman Lehac, Margaret Vaughan Meyer, and Michelle Mathesius. Box 3 contains copies of CDs of Clifford Vaughan music as well as three record Albums, "Oriental Translations I-VI." Box 4 contains 31 pieces of sheet music, arranged alphabetically by title. The majority of these are also from the trip to the Asia (1926); some of these are photocopies. It also contains the 10 oversize programs from Box 2.

The Clifford Merrill Drury papers consist of correspondence, newspaper clippings, research notes, and typescripts related to Drakes Bay (Calif.), Drake's Plate of Brass, the history of religion in California, Rudolph James Wig, and Anson Burlingame. At the end of the box, there is a miscellaneous folder consisting of a letter from Sacramento County Free Library to Clifford M. Drury and two notes concerning Henry Kendall and the Coloma plaque.
