Correspondents in the collection include Thomas Bailey Aldrich, Henry Ward Beecher, Robert Browning, Ralph Waldo Emerson, William Lloyd Garrison, Ulysses S. Grant, Horace Greeley, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Oliver Wendell Holmes, James Russell Lowell, Lydia Dodge Cabot Parker, Theodore Parker, Hannah E. Stevenson, and John Greenleaf Whittier. The collection also includes engravings and photographs of many of the correspondents and their homes, and printed invitations and circulars.
