Incipit: Quoniam inter crimina ecclesiastica Symoniaca heresis primum optinet locum, Videndum est quid sit symonia. W. Crimina ecclesiastica sunt quorum cognitio pertinet ad ecclesiasticum iudicem. Explicit: Nota maritus expensas necessarias et utiles in rebus dotalibus factas, puta quia domum refecit potest repetere, voluntarias vero debet perdere. Scriptor qui scripsit cum christo vivere possit. Latin. Abbreviation of Raymond of Pennafort's Summa de Poenitentia and the added 4th book on Matrimony, in which quotations from Pennafort are identified by "M" and the material borrowed or paraphrased from William of Rennes' gloss is identified by "W."     Collection of signatures and autographs assembled ca. 1888, probably by Lewis P. Child of New York. Included are clipped signatures of presidents, vice-presidents, congressmen, jurists, generals, clergymen, artists and other celebrities. Included are four brief notes from Abraham Lincoln to the Treasury Department (1864-1865) and letters from Daniel Stevens Dickinson to George W. Scranton (1853, May 16); Alfred B. Street to L. Odell (1860, Dec. 15); A.J. H. Duganne to A. J. Odell (1867, July 16); Edwards Pierrepont to "My Dear Mr. Taylor" (1874, July 10); Whitelaw Reid to Hugh Auchinloss (1874, Oct. 8); Henry Codman Potter to Lewis P. Child (1888, July 22), William Scharfernberg to "My Dear Madam," (n.d.); Samuel P. Warren to Lewis P. Child (n.d.) Also included is a collection of bills of exchange issued between 1806 and 1808 in Virginia, New York, and Barbados, including a draft issued to John Gough from William Claus, the acting trustee of the Six Nations (1808, Nov. 2).

    A collection of manuscripts, correspondence, volumes, autographs, photographs, and ephemera collected by Mary W. T. Dickinson. The manuscripts include French military orders (1678) and a document signed by Charles II, King of England (1662). The volumes are both literary and historical, most with some type of illustration. The collection also includes a small amount of personal correspondence and a larger amount of correspondence with dealers and the Henry E. Huntington Library concerning her collection.

    Autograph album of Hartman Hotel

    Manuscripts

    This album includes autographs, short notes, and some sketches by over 100 visitors to Hotel Hartman, many of whom were famous. They include actors, both stage and screen, opera singers, performers, artists, and dancers. Some notable people are: American dancer Ruth St. Denis; comic strip writer and creator of Buster Brown, Richard F. Outcault; American actor Tyrone Power; musician John Philip Sousa; and Italian tenor Enrico Caruso; among many others. With the volume are two photographs of unidentified men and a typed list of all of the autographs.

Truman to Leonard Lyons (December 20, 1955), signed document from Queen Isabella of Spain requesting jewels be sent to her daughter, Catherine of Aragon (May 28, 1501), signed document from Queen Isabella of Spain regarding altercloths, two letters from Katherine Mansfield to sisters "Chaddie" and Jean ([August?] 21 and [July?] 30, 1921) with 2 photographs and 2 letters from Marion Ruddick to Dr. Arnold Whitredge (February 9 & 23, 1949), letter from Virginia Woolf to Quentin Bell (October 18, 1938), signed letter from Czar Nicholas II regarding the Spanish-American War (1898), and an archive of 41 letters from Albert Schweitzer to Dr. Bonema (November 26, 1931-May 4, 1934). Box 2 includes a binder of facsimiles of the collection.
