Gifts of Susan B. Anthony Memorial Committee of California, 1944-1953. This collection forms part of the Susan B. Anthony Memorial collections, which were started by a group of California women who collected all types of material about the life and work of Susan B. Anthony. This group, the Susan B. Anthony Memorial Committee of California, was headed by Una Richardson Winter, Director, and Alice L. Park, Associate Director. They donated the manuscript and printed materials now known as the Susan B. Anthony Memorial collections to the Huntington Library between 1945-1956.
Restrictions
49 original letters written by Susan B.(Susan Brownell) Anthony to Jessie Anthony and Carrie Chapman Catt were removed and placed in Box 4, which is restricted. Typewritten copies of these letters have been filed in Box 1 of the collection for research use.

Typed copies of letters from other libraries contained in Box 3 may not be photocopied or published, as the Huntington does not own either the original letters nor the literary copyright for these letters. Significant figures related to the history of woman suffrage represented in the collection include Susan B. Anthony, Anna Howard Shaw, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Alice Stone Blackwell, and Carrie Chapman Catt. There are also some letters to and about the artist Lorado Taft and one letter by Frederick Douglass.
