    Ira Sprague Bowen papers

    Manuscripts

    The collection consists primarily of Ira Sprague Bowen's correspondence files from his tenure as Director of the Carnegie Observatories (1945-1964), as well as other correspondence, manuscripts, scientific papers, photographs, reprints, and research materials. There is a significant amount of material related to the Mount Wilson and Palomar Observatories and the Carnegie Institution of Washington.

    Series 5. Reprints and articles

    This series contains: The following series of reprint and offprint articles are in the order as received from the Burndy Library. It is difficult to tell if the order reflects the way in which these materials were organized at the Funk Foundation and/or Dr. Funk's personal library or are the result of an archivist's later arrangement. The series "Reprints of articles by others" and "Reprints of articles by colleagues" for example, appear to overalap and in some cases, duplicate each other. Folders titled "Article listings" contains two computer printouts listing articles and showing brief location codes "e.g. "Funkcoff"; "Funk3" and may be from the Funk Foundation library. The "Funk articles" group contains articles authored or co-authored by Casimir Funk. Many folders have multiple copies of the same article(s)The "Funk articles" and "Funk reprints/articles" groups contains articles authored or co-authored by Casimir Funk. Many folders have multiple copies of the same article(s)
