An English translation of Bartholomaeus Anglicus' De proprietatibus rerum by John Trevisa. Title page is xylographic (white on black). Caption title on leaf A2r reads: Prologue of the translatour. True it is· that after the noble [and] experte doctryne . The last leaf contains William Caxton's device, and on the verso a copy of the title-page cut. Chancery folio, with paper measuring 30.9 x 21.2 cm. Text in two columns. Woodcut initials. Signatures: A⁶ B⁸ b⁶ c-z⁸ [et]⁶ [con]⁸ A-V⁸ X-Z⁶ 2a-2c⁸ 2d-2g⁶ 2h-2m⁸ 2n⁴ 2o⁶. Huntington Library copy has gathering A inlaid. Imperfect: leaf A1 (blank) lacking; leaves 2o4-2o6 repaired at inner margin.
