Date is formed in backwards C. Kashnor notes, "Showing Europe, North Africa, Arabia, and Asia Minor, with the curious insert map of the World, indicating three conjectural locations for Ophir, viz., in South Africa, East Africa, and India." Kashnor gives date of 1624 based on the maps inclusion in the Parergon; the Parergon was first published individually in 1624, but had been included in the Theatrum urbis terrarum as early as 1601 (Van der Krogt, map 0810H:31B). Cartouches: Typical Ortelius with elaborate decoration. Submap: World: "Domini est terra et plenitudo orbis terrarum et universi qui habitant in Eo. Psal. 24." "Reverendo et illustridno [sic] Guilielmo Grimbergio, Antverpiensi Praesuli dignissimo, Abrah. Ortelius obsequij deuotionisque ergo dedicab. consecrabatque." Prime meridian: Ferro. Relief: pictorial. Projection: Conic. Watermark: Horn & shield. Printing Process: Copper engraving. References: Van der Broeke 179. Verso Text: Latin text Geographia Sacra. MS note: 984.
