The Correspondence, manuscripts, and ephemera are organized by genre, subject, and/or original order. The contents include bills (legislative records), biographies, briefs, correspondence, divorce records, genealogical tables, memorandums, newspaper clippings, notes, petitions, photos, proceedings, reports, speeches, subject files, and writings. The subject files include the Uniform Air Crash Legislation Committee, Warsaw Convention, Rank v. Krug, Alaska Airlines Flight 1866, Pan Am Flight 806, Turkish Airlines Flight 981, and Zaibatsu.

The collection includes correspondence, photographs, prints, ephemera and clippings. Highlights include an 1875 letter from Charles Darwin (with his son, William Erasmus Darwin) to Lawson Tait regarding mice tails, and a portrait taken by Henry Barraud (1811-1874) which is believed to be the last photograph taken of Darwin. There are also cartes-de-visite photographs of Darwin, as well as printed portraits and other ephemera. Also of note are three letters by Richard Owen, plus photographs of him. The collection also contains a few modern negatives from items in the Warren D. Mohr/Charles Darwin Collection of rare books at The Huntington.

The B.D. Jackson Collection of Negatives and Photographs consists of 804 4 x 5 in. and 8 x 10 in. glass plate negatives, 1782 film negatives (including stereo negatives), 2302 black and white photographs (including stereos, postcards, and photograph albums), and related manuscript and ephemeral materials, 1903-1950s (bulk 1920s-1930s), that provide a visual history of the growth of many of the San Gabriel Valley's suburban communities, a survey of many of California's (and the western United States') notable landscapes, and an overview of Jackson's career as a landscape and scenic view photographer.
