Death mask of Sir Isaac Newton : [object]
Manuscripts
One of only five known originals, the masks were prepared shortly after Newton's death by sculptor John Michael Rysbrack (1694-1770) and subsequently used as the model for his bust of Newton in Westminster Abbey. Copies of the mask were sent to French sculptor Louis-Franc̦ois Roubiliac (1702-1762) for his statue of Newton in Trinity College Chapel.
