  Although the majority of the letters were written by Edward H. Miller to his sister Sally, other addressees include his sister Ellen and his parents. There are also a few letters by his brothers Elisha and David. Miller's letters describe in detail his voyage to California on board the ship Pacific; his attempt at mining and the hardships involved; conditions in California mining camps; life in Sacramento and San Francisco; his business with Mark Hopkins; damage done by fires and floods; vigilance activities in Sacramento; and his opinion about the Civil War, abolitionists, and slavery. Also included with the correspondence is a short manuscript account of Miller's voyage to California on board the ship Pacific, presumably written by Miller, and an obituary for Miller written by an unknown author.

  Microfilm of original diary containing three distinct sections. The first, 102 pages, deals with Henry William Miller's mission to the Cherokee and Creek Nations in Oklahoma. The next section consists of a short journal entry, 14 pages, of Elmira Pond Miller that describes her life and her Mormon experience.The last part, 10 pages, describes a vision that Elmira experienced in 1889 of writing that appeared in the air from her deceased husband. Additionally there are 4 pages of notes that tally the number of descendents of Henry William Miller and his wife. There is also a 2 page index to the diary.

  The Charles D. Miller papers consist primarily of memorabilia accumulated by Miller over the span of his career at Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company, Booz, Allen & Hamilton, and Avery Dennison Corporation. The combination of business records and Miller's personal notes, shows the growth of Avery Dennison under the leadership of a confident and innovative businessman. Also included are items related to his involvement as a business leader and community activist. There are also some personal letters and greeting cards sprinkled throughout the collection, primarily, during his later years. The memorabilia are organized chronologically and include, but not limited to: correspondence, clippings, information packets, memos, newsletters, notices, outlines, photographs, printed matter, reports, reviews, speeches, and summaries. At the beginning of the collection, there are items related to Miller's father, Mark A. Miller. They primarily concern his career at The Yale & Towne Manufacturing Company, where he was the assistant general manager. At the end of the collection, there are adhesive samples, stamps, compact discs, VHS, photograph albums, scrapbooks, and 3-D objects.
