This book commemorates the Japanese Naval Training Squadron's world tour between July and December 1939. The Iwate, Yagumo and Shiretoko completed an intial tour of China and Taiwan, visiting Dalian, Lushuh, Qingdao, and Shanghai, Taiwan and Amoy. The second tour, undertaken in October 1939 visited Hawaii and Micronesia. The majority of illustrations are photomechanical prints of black and white photographs. The album contains a photographic record of the ports visited including many local attractions and the crews' reception by local Japanese populations. Portraits of the crews include individual pictures of ranking officers and depictions of daily life on board and on shore. Includes a color map of the complete tour route and 3 color reproductions of paintings depicting Hawaii, Truk and warships at sea with a tropical background.

Commerative photographic album of the Japanese Naval Training Squadron's world tour between November 1924 and April 1925. Photographs include portraits of the officers and crew, and photographs of the numerous ports of call, including receptions with local authorities and Japanese communities. Highlights include calls at San Francisco, Vancouver, B.C. and Honolulu, Hawaii. Captions and text in Japanese. A folded color map is included in a pocket at the end. Bound in red cloth with gilt lettering on cover, gitl edges, corded tassle ties. Hinges reinforced with cloth tape on inside.

Album to commemorate the Japanese Naval Training Squadron's 1929 world tour. Two war ships, the Iwate and the Asama were at sea from March to December. They toured Japan in March, then set off for Korea and China in April before returning to Japan. In July, the ships set off for their Pacific and North American tour. They visited Honolulu, Vancouver, Seattle, Tacoma, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Panama, Havana, and Baltimore and reached New York in October. On their return journey, they visited Manzanillo, Mexico, Hilo, Hawaii, and some of the Micronesian islands, including Sipan and Chuk. The ships returned to Yokosuka, Japan in December 1929. The majority of illustrations are photomechanical prints of black and white photographs.The album contains a photographic record of all ports visited as well as vignettes of each of the countries visited. The portraits of the crews including their names, ranks and details of their daily routines are provided. Local Japanese populations at many ports turned out to greet ths ships and the receptions, many including local dignitaries, are depicted in the album.

Collection of essays written by medical officers on baord the Iwate during the 1929 Japanese Imperial Navy Training Squadron cruise. The essays were initially published in a montly magazine over 18 months and focus on the medical officers impressions of each port and city visited. The main focus was on health, medical and sanitation issues and detailed accounts of hospitals, medical services, drinking water, sewage systems, infectious disease, and brothels were reported. Special attention was paid to the Japanese communities in the United States, Cuba, Panama and Mexico. The text is accompanied by scattered reproductions of photographs.

This book documents the Imperial Navy's world tour that took place between January and August 1907. The tradition of the annual training cruise for newly graduated naval officers started in 1903. Three Japanese war ships, the Iwajima, the Matsushima and the Hashidate, visited Honolulu, Hilo, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Singapore and many other locations. The majority of illustrations are photomechanical prints of black and white photographs.The album devoted more pages and images to the Hawaiian visit and shows many local Japanese residents welcoming the squadron's arrival. The album also includes an attached foldout map outlining the squadron's sea route in the Pacific. Includes portraits of the crew.
