    Trans-Siberian Express

    Rare Books

Dr. Alex Cousins, a famous American cancer specialist, is secretly dispatched to Moscow by the President of the United States. His mission: to prolong the life of Viktor Dimitrov, Secretary General of the Politburo, who is dying of leukemia. Once Dimitrov's condition has improved, the wily old politican encourages the doctor to leave Russia via the spectacular Trans-Siberian Express - across two continents, then to Japan and over the Pacific. His compartment is a foreign and fabulous world, and into it comes Anna Petrovna, a magnificent Russian beauty who fascinates Alex from their first meeting. But as the miles slip by, this journey becomes a living nightmare. The conspiracy which he had only suspected back at Dimitrov's dacha outside Moscow has followed Cousins onto the train. Trapped, incessantly watched by a cadre of KGB agents, he has no one to turn to but his fellow passengers, who twisted reasons for riding the Trans-Siberian Express become tragically enmeshed with his own desperate flight--Adapted from dust jacket flaps.

    The Basle express

    Rare Books

"British Intelligence agent Tommy Hambledon had the mistaken notion when he arrived at Innsbruck that he had left behind all connections with Herr Bastien, who had been shot in the railway compartment they shared on the Anglo-Swiss Express. But when he was commanded by a belligerent Austrian taxi driver to disrobe, and then forced at gunpoint to hike barefoot over the Alps, Hambledon ruefully decided that his vacation was over. With the help of a horse-faced English tourist - and over the opposition of some escaped lunatics, an enormously stout gentleman with a feather in his hat, a village idiot, and a Communist named Medeski - Tommy Hambledon unravels this gripping and intrigue-ridden international mystery"--Jacket.
