Manuscripts
The material was donated by the former members of the 73rd Evacuation Hospital Unit when an exhibit was held in 1983 and 1984, and a permanent collection was created by the Los Angeles County Medical Association at its library. Correspondence took place mainly between the former members and Lewis Bullock and Elizabeth Crahan at the library. The conversations were centered around reunion dinners and the donation of the personal stuff from the wartime to the exhibit and permanent collection at the library. The letters are from the 1980s. Manuscripts seem to be compiled for the exhibit; they show the actions of the unit and the things they achieved as well as what individual members felt, saw, and experienced far away from home during World War II. Included are duplicates of photographs which seem to be the identical with ones in the Photograph section of this collection, copies of historical documents such as official military memorandums and a report of a military action from the wartime, and the former unit members' writings such as essays, diaries, and memoirs. The writings by the former unit members are: "Clinical Survey of Eighty-Six Cases of Scrub Typhus" by Clarence M. Agress and Edward R. Evans; "Contribution of Hospital in Time of War" by L.J. Tragerman; "Memoirs" by John Salyer; and "My Diary of Experiences in India" by Ethel H. Weber. Furthermore, there are some documents regarding reunion dinners held in 1978 and 1983.

The collection consists of letters (including 1 letter book), manuscripts (including 50 diaries), documents (including 55 account books, 12 cash books, and 5 miscellaneous volumes), and photographs related to the lives and activities of various Janin family members and the extended Janin-Blair-Jesup-Croghan families. Subject matter in the collection includes: politics and government in Washington, D.C., and Louisiana; society and customs in Washington, D.C., and New Orleans; Blair House (Washington, D.C.); land titles in Indiana Territory, Kentucky, Louisiana, and Missouri; the Ocean Canal and Transportation Company, which ran from Louisiana to St. Louis; the history of Mammoth Cave, Kentucky, from the time of purchase by John Croghan in 1839 until 1932, when it became a national park (at which time Violet Blair Janin was the primary owner); and mining in Australia. Persons represented in the collection include: James Lawrence Blair, Mary Jesup Blair, Violet Blair Janin, John Croghan, William Croghan, Albert Covington Janin, Louis Janin, Julia Clark Jesup, Thomas Sidney Jesup, George M. Wheeler, and Lucy James Blair Wheeler. Organizations represented in the collection (with which Violet Blair Janin was affiliated) include: Daughters of the American Revolution, National Association Opposed to Woman's Suffrage, National Cathedral Association, National Society of Children of the American Revolution, and the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.

The collection consists of 6202 black-and-white and color photographs, pen and ink drawings, and postcards, 1412 black-and-white and color negatives, 2606 black-and-white and color slides, and ephemeral materials, 1898-1982 (bulk 1920s-1930s) collected by the Automobile Club of Southern California. They form a general photographic reference collection as well as a broad visual survey of topics of interest to California motorists. Included are images of sites in North and Central America (with an emphasis on California), Europe, the Pacific Islands, and portraits, as well as images related to other subjects of interest to the Club's membership. Many of the images were published as illustrations for articles in the Club's first member magazine, Touring Topics. A large portion of the photographs were taken by authors of articles that appeared in Touring Topics; others were commissioned by the Club; and others appear to have been sent to the Club. Photographers (and authors) include, but are not limited to, Ansel Adams, Fred Archer, Viroque Baker, George Hugh Banning, Adelbert Bartlett, Virginia S. Bartlett, Andrew R. Boone, Julius Cindrich, Norman Clyde, Will Connell, Loyd Cooper, Imogen Cunningham, Asahel Curtis, Edward Sheriff Curtis, Fred Dapprich, E.H. Davis, E.E. Manuscripts
The Samuel G. Hibben collection is divided into four sections: articles, photographs, correspondence, and ephemera. The bulk of the collection consists of articles, both handwritten and printed, and most written by Hibben. The rest are lighting-related articles kept by Hibben, sent to him by colleagues or through the Westinghouse Company. These articles are arranged alphabetically by title, in Boxes 1-3. Box 4 contains articles specifically related to projects in which Hibben was involved, such as the lighting of the Statue of Liberty or the 1939 New York World's Fair, and committees he was a part of, such as the Electrical Historical Foundation. Box 5 contains miscellaneous unattributed articles, and photographs, mostly of the 1939 New York World's Fair, the White House, and various landmarks being lit at night. Box 6 contains correspondence, arranged by date, most being either written by Hibben or directed to his attention. The majority of this correspondence relates to various electrical committees. Box 7 consists of ephemera, and includes photographic negatives, diagram sketches, and blueprints.
