The collection contains manuscripts, correspondence and ephemera. The manuscripts consist of 36 items arranged in alphabetical order by author. The items are materials created by the Health Plan Consultants Committee, the Committee on Multiphasic Screening and groups and individuals involved in the research on mutliphasic screenings. The correspondence consists of 80 items arranged alphabetically by author. The majority of this section consists of letters written by doctors and administrators involved in the multiphasic screening program. The ephemera consists of 29 items arranged alphabetically by type. They are materials related to research into mutliphasic screening and general health topics. Notable participants include: Dr. Edgar F. Mauer, former president of the Los Angeles County Heart Association, Dr. Russel V. Lee, and Dr. Ian Macdonald.

Los Angeles County Medical Association's Coroner's Committee campaign records

The collection contains the material the committee used in running the campaign to get County Charter "D" passed in Los Angeles County. The collection includes campaign reports, correspondence (chiefly by committee chairman Lewis T. Bullock), committee minutes, printed materials, publicity information, applications, and memoranda. There is also material used in the search for the first coroner which includes correspondence between the committee and Theodore J. Curphey, who was eventually hired and became the first Coroner of Los Angeles County in March 1957. There are also manuscripts by Los Angeles County Deputy Coroner Ben H. Brown and Dr. R. B. H. Gradwhol regarding the professional role of a coroner.

This collection contains approximately 870 publications and printed items, produced by various organizations, related to hospitals, medicine, medical education, and public health, chiefly in Southern California in the 20th century. The materials were compiled as part of the library of the Los Angeles County Medical Association Collection, a professional institution designed to regulate and encourage the development of the medicine in Los Angeles. The bulk of the collection consists of programs for meetings, conventions, and congresses; annual reports for medical societies, hospitals, and medical schools; and doctor, staff, and medical student directories. In addition, there are reprints of speeches and addresses; yearbooks for medical schools; commemorative, biographical, and historical publications; some original historical documents; by-laws and founding documents; and some planning and administrative documents. The materials include items produced by nearly 200 different authors, though many organizations are represented by only a few items. There are over 140 items published by or about the Los Angeles County Medical Association. The collection also contains seven boxes of catalog cards created by the Los Angeles County Medical Association describing the materials in the collection.
