"Roy Lichtenstein's new series of relief prints based on the theme of Entablatures - friezes of architectural ornament - represent both his most technically complex and sophisticated graphic works to date, as well as the culmination of a long involvement with the relationship between representational and abstract art - both as an iconographical theme and as a formal problem to be solved in terms of a new definition of the very concept of style.
