- Ms. inscription in a rough 16th century secretary hand, cropped, on final page: Be it knowen ... Pu[n]tis[?] me John Renold[es] of Sir Teston in the county of Suff[ol]k husbond man in the”. Inscription, probably pen trial, in a neat late Tudor or early Jacobean secretary hand on Q5r only, partly cut off. Ms. annotations in a late 17th/early 18th century hand provide marginal titles for sections of prologue and notes on the misimposition of gathering R. Signature “John Hussey 1777” appears directly beneath title on title page, on top of laminate addition. Armorial but anonymous bookplate of Robert Hussey, including family motto “Vix ea nostra voco”, on front pastedown. Sydney Richardson Christie-Miller was the son of Wakefield Christie-Miller, from whom he inherited the Britwell library. It is not known when this item entered the Britwell library. It may have been purchased by Samuel Christie-Miller in 1855, though the usual Britwell shelfmark is lacking. Purchased by Rosenbach for Henry E. Huntington at the Britwell sale, 2 April 1924:433.
