Correspondents include Horace Greeley, John Milton Hay, David Hunter, Christopher Raymond Perry Rodgers, Benjamin Penhallow Shillaber, Alfred Howe Terry, and Margaret G. Halpine. Some letters written by Halpine and others are photocopies made from microfilm loaned by William Hanchett in 1967.
