The majority of the material relates to the construction of federal buildings in San Francisco from 1873 to 1878. There is also material about the Sutter New Helvetia title and a trip to the Fraser River mines in Canada; correspondents include Alfred Bult Mullett and Aaron Augustus Sargent.
