Benjamin F. Butler letters
Manuscripts
The letters in this small collection cover a range of concerns, often related to business and land transactions in the West. Nearly all of the letters are addressed to O.D. Barrett, an associate of Butler based in Washington, D.C., and concern legal matters and land sales. Most of the letters are typewritten on the letterhead that reads the "Law Offices of Benj. F. Butler, Wasburn and Webster." The letters reveal Butler's astuteness as a lawyer, and his firmness and agressiveness as a businessman.
