An alternative media brochure
Rare Books
"One day, a bunch of alternative media people were searching for ways to co-operate. We decided to combine our mailing lists and our efforts to produce a booklet telling you about some of the sources of information offered by alternative organizations. We had to limit ourselves to the fourteen groups you'll find inside .... if enough others show interest, we may do a second catalog in the spring. The alternative culture is getting it together! Plug in to the movement! Read this rag!"--Cover.

5 items. Pourade, Editor Emeritus of the San Diego Union, wrote to Williams regarding "a special operation to screen all wire service copy on the political campaign" being instituted by that newspaper. "We intend," wrote Pourade, "to document, day by day, all of the bias and slanting ...we find." He continued, "It will take the utmost in editorial alertness to prevent our columns from being used to promote the interests of one candidate or another." Williams replied that he would be like to get the reports on wire service copy. Also in the file is a 14 pp. survey--with brief analysis-- on allegedly "slanted" reports. The third annual Birth Gazette conference, August 18-20, 1995 : to be held at The Farm, Summertown, Tennessee
Rare Books
"For 24 years the Farm Midwives have been at the forefront of the worldwide midwifery movement. Our statistics for more than 1900 births have demonstrated that the birth process works best when women are able to give birth attended by midwives who provide care that is truly women-centered. We are dedicated to passing on the knowledge and skills that we have learned over the years to the midwives of the future. Our conference this year will feature workshops taught by leading women in the midwifery movement as well as several sessions that will teach NARM-required skills for those seeking national certification. Come and be inspired by the women who will be on the program. This year's instructors will include Ina May Gaskin, Robbie Davis-Floyd, Anne Frye, Makeda Kamara, Pamela Hunt, Carol Nelson, Joanne Santana, Deborah Flowers, Dr. Heidi Rinehart, Dr. Barry Brown and more"--Page [8].
