Subject matter includes real estate transactions, legislation, and land speculation in Kentucky; Louisville and Kentucky politics; Ohio politics and government, especially during the Civil War; relations between Colombia and the U.S.; antislavery sentiment; the Civil War Correspondents include Richards Clough Anderson, Sr., Robert Anderson, Charles Anderson, Larz Anderson, John Jordan Crittenden and John Sherman.
