This small group of material consists of one furlough certificate, special order no. 46 by James Oakes, five tintypes, a book catalog, and a printed booklet entitled Diary of a Union Soldier transcribed by Ralph Arthur Allen. There are two small diaries kept by Lewis N.T. Allen, written in pencil. The first diary spans from August 1, 1861 through September 8. The second diary spans from August 1, 1863 through August 13, 1864.
