    Civil War memoirs of John G. Lemmon

    Manuscripts

    Memoirs of the Civil War service that John G. Lemmon wrote in 1866. The memoirs incorporate Lemmon's field diary that covered the period from his enlistment in August 1862 and his improsonment in August 1864, his letters home, and some of his official documents. The manuscript includes a survey of "Hospitals at Nashville (ff. 17 v-- 18) and two hand-drawn maps: "Sketch of Nashville and its Defences as it appeared in the winter of 1863 & 4. Draws at Store-Room Hospital No. 1 January 1864," (ff. 20-21 v.) and an untitled map of the vicinity of Rome and Kingston, Ga.,

    The collection consists of 317 radio scripts and 60 television scripts from 1953 to 1975, for the long-running series Gunsmoke. The material includes preliminary drafts, working notes, and finished scripts. Scriptwriters include, among others: Jim Byrnes, Marian Clark, John Dunkel, Les Crutchfield, Kathleen Hite, Norman Macdonnell, John Meston, Vic Perrin, and Paul Savage.

    Maynard L. Parker negatives, photographs, and other material consists of 57,893 black-and-white negatives, color transparencies, black-and-white prints, and color prints; 39 presentation albums; and 17 boxes of office records, 1930-1974. Created primarily by Maynard Parker, the archive documents the residential and non-residential work of architects, interior designers, landscape architects, artists, builders, real estate developers, and clients associated with these fields, foremost among them the magazine House Beautiful. Also included in the collection are photographs taken by other individuals, such as architect Cliff May and Parker's assistant, Charles Yerkes.
