These lengthy letters provide details of an American merchant ship's voyage along the west coast of South America (Chile and Peru) from 1817 to 1820. Written by the captain, the letters describe trade, ports of call, and some information on the wars for independence. The letters contain detailed descriptions of Concepción, Chile; Lima, Peru; and Santiago, and Valparaíso, Chile. First letter is 28 pages and the second letter is 52 pages.
